Profile

Biography

Ryan Ouillette, M.D., is a fellowship-trained sports medicine orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the surgical and non-surgical care of bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, and muscle injuries. He is dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of injuries, disorders and diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

Dr. Ouillette played sports growing up, including high school football and Division III football at Kalamazoo College. As an athlete, he was naturally drawn to the musculoskeletal system. “During my orthopedic surgery rotations as a medical student, I found the field incredibly rewarding because it offers the ability to use minimally invasive techniques as well as advanced robotic systems,” he said. “I enjoy being part of the rapid recovery orthopedic patients experience and witnessing the dramatic improvement in their quality of life after a successful surgery.”

Philosophy of Care

“My philosophy of care is centered on patient education and trust,” he said. “I take the time to describe conditions in detail and guide my patients through all available treatment options, prioritizing conservative care before considering surgery. I am dedicated to building a relationship where my patients feel confident that I will deliver exceptional, individualized care.”

According to Dr. Ouillette, the ultimate reward is being able to witness and take part in procedures that dramatically improve a patient’s quality of life by relieving pain, restoring function, and allowing them to stay involved in activities they enjoy most.

Special Interests and Procedures

Dr. Ouillette’s special interests include shoulder arthroscopy, rotator cuff repair, labral repair, and shoulder instability; total shoulder arthroplasty; direct anterior total hip arthroplasty; total knee arthroplasty; knee arthroscopy, meniscus repair, and ACL reconstruction; biceps tendon repair; Achilles tendon repair; and routine fracture care.

In his free time, he likes to spend time with his family enjoying outdoor activities and traveling. He also enjoys cooking and barbecuing, watching football and other sports, as well as engaging in regular fitness activities.
