Biography
Mistey Rayl, D.N.P., F.N.P.-C., is a nurse practitioner who specializes in addiction medicine. She sees patients at the Substance Use Disorder Program at MidMichigan Health Park – Houghton Lake, providing medication assisted therapy (MAT) and other supporting treatment options for individuals who are recovering from addiction to opioids and other substances.
Philosophy of Care
“I aim to provide personalized care to every patient by viewing them as more than just their disease or illness,” Mistey said. “I strive to treat each person with compassion, dignity and respect. I believe that provider-patient relationships should not be a dictator-type relationship and that the treatment plan should be developed and agreed upon by all those involved.” The most satisfying part of Mistey’s job is the amount of quality time she has with her patients and the chance to watch the transformation of every aspect of their lives. “I love learning from my patients about the things that can’t be taught in a classroom or textbook, and can only be learned from those who have had personal experience,” she said. Mistey and her husband, Edward, have two daughters, one son and two grandsons. Together, they enjoy camping, kayaking down the river, side-by-side rides and spending time together.
