Biography
Ron Warner, A.N.P.-C., M.S.N., P.M.H.N.P.-B.C., is a nurse practitioner who specializes in psychiatric mental health care. He sees patients at the Substance Use Disorder Program at MyMichigan Health Park Houghton Lake, providing medication assisted therapy (MAT) and other supporting treatment options for individuals who are recovering from addiction to opioids and other substances.
Ron has worked in health care for his entire career. He’s a former firefighter, paramedic and hospice nurse, and in those roles, has helped people through the toughest times of their life. He was drawn to the field of addiction medicine after losing his brother to a heroin overdose.
Philosophy of Care
“My philosophy of care is to treat a person how I would expect to be treated at all times,” said Ron. “I want to create a relationship with my patients that is built on trust. It’s my job to present people with their treatment options that allow them to decide what works best.”
As someone who has seen family members struggle with mental health issues and addiction, it’s most satisfying to Ron when he helps patients overcome the struggles associated with substance abuse and all that surrounds that lifestyle.
“At the Substance Use Disorder Program, we can help patients get better and turn their lives around,” he said.
Special Interests and Procedures
Ron has a special interest in co-morbid mental health issues that occur with substance abuse.
He and his wife, Mischelle, have four adult daughters. They enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, biking, and sports, as well as volunteering for Team Rubicon, an international disaster relief organization.
